Firmware

Updating your Cronus Zen's firmware is the most important step. If your firmware is out of date, your Zen will disconnect, your controller won't work, and scripts will glitch.

How to Update Firmware

1

Plug the short micro-USB cable into the top CONSOLE port of your Zen, and plug the other end into your PC.

2

Turn the Zen upside down. Press and hold the small blue button on the bottom until the Zen screen says "Zen Bootloader".

3

Open Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and go to firmware.modcentral.ca.

4

Click on the Cronus Zen icon, select the Latest firmware version, and click Continue to install. It takes about 20 seconds.

How to Downgrade Firmware (Xbox Headset Fix)

If you play on Xbox and plug your headset directly into your controller, you might not hear any audio. This is a known bug with newer Cronus Zen firmware. To fix this, you MUST downgrade your firmware to version 2.0.9-beta.43.

Source: Official Xbox Audio Guide

1

Put your Zen into Bootloader mode (hold the bottom button while plugging it in).

2

Go to firmware.modcentral.ca.

3

Instead of choosing the Latest version, uncheck the box that says "Hide older versions".

4

Scroll down and select version 2.0.9-beta.43, then install it.

Xbox headset users
If you downgrade to 2.0.9-beta.43, do NOT click update if Zen Studio asks you to. Stay on that version so your headset keeps working.
