Jumpshots & Shot Timing — NBA 2K26

Your jumpshot is the single most important thing in 2K. A good base with the right release gives you a wider green window, faster timing, and more consistency — especially with Green's AI Auto-Green.

How shot timing works in 2K26

Every jumpshot has a green window — a range of frames where releasing the shot counts as perfect. The wider that window, the more forgiving your timing is. Green's AI Auto-Green releases at this window automatically, but a better jumpshot base means a bigger window for the script to work with.

Green windowThe frame range where a release counts as a green. Wider = easier.
SpeedHow fast the jumpshot animates. Faster = harder to contest.
Release heightHow high the ball is at release point. Higher = harder to block.

Top jumpshot bases

These are the most consistent bases in 2K26. All have wide green windows and fast releases:

BaseSpeedBest for
Oscar RobertsonVery fastAll-around. Largest green window in the game.
Steph CurryFastGuards & shooters. Smooth release, great for catch-and-shoot.
Kobe BryantFastMid-range specialists. Great for fades and pull-ups.
Kevin DurantMedium-fastTall builds (6'7+). High release point, hard to contest.
Luka DoncicMediumStep-back specialists. Wide window, pairs great with fades.
Green users
Oscar Robertson is the default recommendation. It has the widest green window, meaning AI Auto-Green has the most room to release at the perfect timing. Start here and only switch if your playstyle demands it.

Building your jumpshot in the creator

1

Go to MyPLAYER → Animation Store → Jump Shot Creator.

2

Choose your base (the most important part — this determines green window and speed).

3

Pick Release 1 and Release 2. These are cosmetic but can affect the feel of your release cue.

4

Set the release speed to max (if your jumper base allows it). Faster = less time to contest.

5

Set blending to 50/50 unless you specifically want one release animation to dominate the look.

Shot meter off = bigger green window
Turning the shot meter off gives you a hidden bonus to your green window. Always play with meter off when using Green — the script handles timing for you.

When to change your jumpshot

  • If you're getting heavily contested often, try a higher release (KD, Carmelo).
  • If you play off-ball / catch-and-shoot, Steph Curry base feels the smoothest.
  • If you fade a lot, Kobe or Luka bases have the best fade animations.
  • If you're new or unsure, Oscar Robertson is the safest choice for any build.
