Scoring Fundamentals — NBA 2K26

There are more ways to score in 2K26 than just standing threes and contact dunks. Here's how to score from everywhere on the floor.

Three-point shooting

The bread and butter. Most online points come from 3s. To green consistently:

  • Turn off the shot meter for the hidden ~5% green window boost.
  • Use a fast base (Base 3, Base 98, Curry, Tyceno) — faster releases give less time for contests.
  • Create space first. A step-back, screen, or off-ball cut. Open 3s green more than contested ones.
  • Know your hotspots. 2K gives invisible boosts when you shoot from spots where you've previously made shots.
Green + 3PT
AI Auto-Green handles the release timing for all three-point shots. Your job is creating the open look — the script handles the rest. 96.5% average.

Mid-range game

The most underrated weapon in 2K26. Most players online don't guard the mid-range because they expect 3s. A pull-up mid from the elbow or free throw line is almost uncontestable if you know the spots.

  • Elbow pull-ups: Drive to the elbow area, stop, shoot. Very hard to contest.
  • Free throw line fades: Post up around the key, fade away. Needs 75+ Mid-Range attribute.
  • Baseline floaters: Drive along the baseline and float it over the center. Floaters are OP in 2K26.

Finishing at the rim

Contact dunks are the flashiest, but there are many ways to score inside:

MoveWhen to useAttribute needed
Contact dunkDriving with no blocker in positionDriving Dunk 84+ for pro contacts, 92+ for elite
Euro stepAvoiding a shot blocker on a driveDriving Layup 75+

Post scoring

If you're a big, post moves are your money makers. The post game in 2K26 is strong if you know the animations:

  • Post fade: Back down, tap shoot + away from basket. Effective from mid-range.
  • Post hook: Back down, tap shoot toward the basket. Hard to block, especially for 7-footers.
  • Post spin: Back down, spin toward baseline for a layup/dunk. Works when defender plays behind you.
  • Up-and-under: Post up, pump fake (tap shoot then quickly release), then drive for the finish. Best move against shot-block-happy centers.
AI Button Tempo
The AI Button Tempo mod in Green handles the timing for post fades, hooks, and contact dunks automatically. Enable it and your post game becomes lethal.

Free throws

A lot of people miss free throws because they don't practice them. In 2K26, the green window for free throws is actually wider than jumpshots, but the timing feels different because there's no defender pressure. AI Button Tempo handles free throw timing automatically — just press the button and the script greens it.
