ISO Playstyles & Tips — NBA 2K26

ISO basketball is the art of beating your defender 1-on-1. In 2K26, it's the most rewarding way to play — but it requires reads, patience, and the right build. Here's how to cook.

The 4 ISO playstyles

StyleFocusBest for
Shoot-firstPull-up 3s, step-backs, catch-and-shootGuards with 85+ 3PT, shooters
SlasherDrives, contact dunks, layup packagesAthletic builds, paint beasts
Mid-range demonFades, pull-ups, elbow gameVersatile scorers, 6'5–6'9 builds
PlaymakerBreak down defense, kick out, pick-and-rollHigh ball handle, pass-first guards

Reading the defense

Every ISO sequence starts with a read. What the defender does determines your next move:

1

Defender plays tight: Drive past them. Hesi or crossover to create the lane, attack the rim.

2

Defender sags off: Shoot it. If they give you space, make them pay with a pull-up or step-back.

3

Defender reaches: Blow by. When they reach for the steal, they're out of position. Sprint past them.

4

Help defense comes: Pass. If a second defender rotates, kick it to the open man. This is where IQ separates good from great.

ISO scoring zones

Where you ISO matters as much as how. Each spot on the floor has different advantages:

Wing (45°)Best for step-backs and 3PT fades. Space to operate both ways.
Top of keyBest for pick-and-roll, hesi drives. Straight line to the basket.
ElbowMid-range heaven. Fades, pull-ups, and short drives all work.
BaselineGreat for post fades and drives. Limited passing options though.
HashThe Curry zone. Step-back 3s and snatch-backs dominate here.

ISO tips that separate good from great

  • Be patient. Don't force a move in the first 2 seconds. Read the defense, then attack.
  • Use 2 moves max. The best ISO players chain 1–2 dribble moves and make a decision. More moves = more time for help defense.
  • Change speeds. Slow down, then explode. The speed change is what beats defenders, not the move itself.
  • Use your off-hand. If you always go right, defenders will cheat that way. Practice finishing left.
  • Pick your spots. Don't ISO every possession. When the matchup is right, attack. When it's not, run the offense.
  • Watch the clock. In Rec/Pro-Am, don't start an ISO with 4 seconds left. Give yourself at least 10–12 seconds.
Green + ISO
AI Auto-Green releases your shot at the green window automatically — you press shoot, it handles timing on pull-ups and fades. AI Infinite Stamina prevents your stamina from draining (you move slightly slower, but never gas out). AI Insta-Stop stops your player before shooting off the dribble to create space — set it to Auto or Left-Trigger.
