The "Patched" Rumor
This rumor has been going around since about 2020, and it resurfaces every time Sony releases a PS5 system update or 2K pushes a gameplay patch. Someone on social media will claim that the Cronus Zen has been patched, and then that claim spreads even though it's not true.
To understand why it hasn't been patched (and realistically won't be), you need to know how the Cronus Zen actually works. It's a hardware device that sits between your controller and your console. When your PS5 or Xbox communicates with the Zen, it doesn't see anything unusual — it just sees a standard controller. The Zen translates controller inputs through USB, and it doesn't interact with the game's software or anti-cheat in any way. There's simply nothing for the console to detect.
For Sony or Microsoft to block the Cronus Zen, they would need to fundamentally change how USB controllers authenticate. That would also break every third-party controller, fight stick, and adaptive controller on the market. It's extremely unlikely to happen.
