The Constraint That Shapes Everything

A Cronus Zen sits between your controller and the console. It reads controller input, modifies it, and passes it on — the console sees a standard controller. What it cannot do: see your screen, read game memory, or receive any information about where enemies are. Any mod claiming otherwise on a Zen is lying about the hardware.

So how does tracking work with zero knowledge of the target? By borrowing the one system that does know where the target is: the game's own rotational aim assist.

How Auto-Tracking Actually Works

When your crosshair is near an enemy, the game applies rotational aim assist — it rotates your view slightly to follow the target, and it scales that help based on your stick input. This is the hook. Auto-Tracking continuously shapes your right-stick output with structured micro-movements that do two things:

  • Keep rotational assist fully engaged — same principle as ⁠Polar Aim Assist: assist only works while sticks are active, so the script guarantees activity.
  • Lean into the assist's corrections — the injected movement sweeps through directions in a way that lets the game's assist "catch" and amplify the component pointing at the target. Input toward the target gets reinforced by the game; input away gets damped by the same slowdown mechanics. The net effect biases your aim toward whatever the game is already assisting on.

Notice what's doing the actual targeting: the game. The script never knows where the enemy is — it creates the input conditions under which the game's own tracking works hardest. That's also why the result looks natural in killcams: it is the game's aim assist, running at full duty cycle.

Rotational aim assist tracks center mass — that's where the assist bubble is strongest, and left alone, your crosshair settles on the chest. The Honest Ceiling

  • No acquisition. If your crosshair isn't near a target, there's no aim assist to amplify. You still have to get on target yourself; the mod maximizes tracking after that.
  • No wall tracking, no lock-on. The game's assist disengages when a target breaks line of sight, so the mod's effect disappears with it. Anything else would require reading game data, which the hardware can't do.
  • Assist-dependent. In a mode or game with controller aim assist disabled, Auto-Tracking has nothing to lean on.

If you understand those limits and still expect a real difference in how sticky your tracking feels through strafes, slides, and jumps — that's exactly the right expectation.
